PR Progress

By John Sugg, VP Public Relations

Reports on COTS schools have been sparse, as far as PR inclusion, but several sources indicate that we have made some headway during the past year. Thanks need to go to the instructors who included BE and PR in their presentations.

We would like to take credit for it, but both our internal and external PR took one giant step this year. Kudos to Arnold Wade for setting up and maintaining PROBE's web page: http://www.harmonize.com/probe/

Working with him has been a real pleasure, and hopefully some of his enthusiasm and efficiency will rub off. Do yourself a favor and review it in its entirety. He needs more pertinent information, so if you can't find something that should be there, e-mail him (or me) and we will add as we can.

PR planning for next year started today. Some suggestions have been gleaned from the voluminous e-mail in the last few months. Next year's program of action could be greatly enhanced if we could hear from the Mkt/PR people who are doing the job for their local chapter. Our primary goal is to abet and assist PR efforts at the local chapter level, and your input is invaluable.

PROBE's district coordinators have to be appointed each year by the individual district president, and sometimes it has not been easy for President Waldo to get this accomplished early in the year. The current list is below, and if you do not know your district coordinator, now is the time to get acquainted. They are all donating a tremendous amount of time and energy for your benefit. [webmaster note: contact information available here]

MAD - Gerald Roth CSD - John Petterson
SUN - Frank Caldarazzo ONT - Waldo Redekop
DIX - Gene Fegely CAR - Lowell Shank
NED - William Ferrigno EVG - Harry Squires
SLD - Ray Ferrigno JAD - Dick Stuart
FWD - Dick Girvin PIO - Jim Styer
SWD - Grady Kerr LOL - Dick Teeters
ILL - Ken Krancher RMD - Joe Wells

Early this year we will instigate a more specific entry suggestion for the 1999 PROTY contest. Up until now the outline for submission has been, of necessity, rather vague. There is such a wide variation of activities in PR that rules are almost impossible. Please take a critical look at the PROBE web page and drop me a note if you have suggestions or ideas.
