2002 PROBE Outstanding Achievement Awards

Each year PROBE announces this special recognition for outstanding accomplishments that promoted barbershop harmony in a big way. These awards are given to districts, chapters, quartets, or individuals based on Creativity, Impact, Exposure and Results. This award covers the preceding 12 months and is announced at each Int'l Convention.

 

The 2001 Nashville International Convention Webcast and hosts Rich Taylor and Phil DeBar for their outstanding coverage of the International Barbershop Convention in Nashville via the internet for over 10,000 listeners world-wide.
Kanno Tetsuo and Kazao Matsummara of Tokyo, Japan for their creation of the book "An Invitation To Barbershop Harmony" written in Japanese by the Tokyo Barbers and distributed to the choral community.
Steve Currington of Wellington, New Zealand for his successful Internet barbershop radio show, "Encore"
Phil Debar of Santa Rosa, California for his continued success as host of "The Human Voice Show" on KKUP-FM 91.5 and "The Human Voice Connections" on KRCB-FM 91.1 and A Cappella Radio International" (ARI) - CASA
The Applause Show host Rich Taylor, Rich Pearson, and T.J. Barranger for their weekly four and a half hour live broadcast of a cappella music via WVRM in Upper Montclair, New Jersey and world wide via the Internet.
Power Play (Don Slamka, Mike Slamka, Jack Slamka, Mark Slamka) for their outstanding performances on the Grand Ole Opry in July 2001.
Gas House Gang (Kipp Buckner, Rich Knight, Rob Henry, Jim Henry) for their outstanding performances on the Grand Ole Opry in July 2001 and appearance on National Public Radio's (NPR) "Present At The Creation" feature on March 18, 2002.
The Westchesteraires (Steve Delehanty, Bob Seda, Stash Rossi, Al Fennell) of Westchester County, New York chapter for their appearance on The View (ABC) March 29, 2002.
Alexander Boltenko of Kalamazoo, Michigan for his outstanding work organizing the "Barbershop Night" on January 31, 2002 during the appearance of The Music Man on tour.
The Vocal Majority of Dallas, Texas for their release of Tribute to America recording and performance on September 19, 2001 that was aired on local radio and raised $37K for the American Red Cross.
OK Chorale quartet a.k.a. True West Balladeers (John Fynmore, Allen Fossenkemper, Galen McCain, Dan Davenport) of the Phoenix, Arizona area for their contribution to True West magazine and re-creating the old west by performing an accurate history thru authentic songs, costumes and stories.
